Farnborough International Airshow is the biggest, most internationally attended aerospace event in the world – a globally renowned showcase of aerospace equipment and technology. It provides the perfect venue for the world's civil and military aerospace suppliers and their customers to meet and discuss, finalise and announce their business transactions. Over $40bn worth of orders were announced at the 2006 show which is double the business from 2004.

2008 marks a double anniversary celebration in the UK aviation calendar. The Farnborough International Airshow will celebrate its diamond anniversary, marking 60 successful years at the Farnborough Aerodrome. It will also be 100 years since Samuel Franklin Cody made the first successful sustained, powered flight in the UK from Farnborough Airfield on 16 October 1908. In recognition of these important events celebrations are planned which will be incorporated into the Farnborough International Airshow 2008.
